Overview:
The Emerald Institute offers its students the opportunity to
combine their English language learning experience with
an unpaid Internship Programme. The student participates
in an English language programme for a number of weeks
prior to commencing their Internship programme. This
programme allows the student to develop their language
skills in an everyday work environment.
The Internship:
The student participates in a placement meeting and will
be asked for a number of preferences based on education,
training and intended future career path.
Internships can be arranged in a wide variety of sectors
including the following:
- Business (financial services, IT and telecoms, marketing,
consulting, hospitality, food, travel, fashion, retail)
- Media/Arts/Literature (newspapers, magazines,
publishing, film, TV, music, radio, theatre, museums,
galleries, resource centres)
- PR/Advertising (advertising agencies, PR, agencies,
event planning
- Politics/Law (government organisations, NGO, civil law
practices, research and advocacy groups)
Levels:
An Intermediate level of English is required for this
programme.
Minimum Course Duration:
Students must take a minimum of 4 weeks of language
classes at the Emerald Institute. Internships are offered on
the basis that students will stay for a minimum of 6 weeks
and a maximum of 6 months.
Age Group:
The Internship Programme is designed for students aged 21+
Fees:
Students who would like to participate in the Internship
Programme must pay a once-off placement fee.
Notes:
The chosen company will decide the student’s work schedule,
which may include evenings and weekends. Although every
effort is made to place each student in their first-choice
company, availability may vary according to the sector.
Applicants are also advised that Internships in childcare or
Healthcare organisations may require police clearance.
